Summary
A black metal box with tall, shaped, hinged lid, two white metal clips to the front and a black leather handle impressed with 'THERMOS'. A note, tied to the handle by string and handwritten in black ink, reads 'Lunch case / containing thermos / & place for sandwiches / s / 7/6 / ... [possibly Stamford]'. The note is written on the reverse of a thin card calender for June 1926, with red and black print (Farringdon Series No.2), produced by J.W. & Co. Ltd., London.

Stamford collection; devised to the National Trust by Roger Grey, 10th Earl of Stamford (1896-1976).
