Summary
A walnut and marquetry bombé chest of drawers, Dutch, mid- to late 18th century. Of bombé form and of four drawers. The shaped top and sides inlaid with birds, butterflies and flowers. The drawers inlaid with flowers, and with gilt brass handles and lockplates. The front corners buttressed and projecting; the undulating front apron carved with foliate rocaille.
Provenance
Date of acquisition not recorded, but part of the Hyde Parker Collection, and by descent to Sir Richard Hyde Parker, 12th Baronet (b. 1937). Melford Hall and part of the collection were Accepted in Lieu and transferred by the Treasury to the National Trust in 1960.
