Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Mary Erskine, Lady Acland (d.1892) by Cyrus Johnson (1848-1925), signed and dated Cyrus Johnson 1883. Daughter of John Erskine (c.1765-1817) and Mary Mordaunt, married as his 2nd wife, Sir Thomas Dyke Acland, 11th Bt (1809-1898). Portrait of a mature woman, three-quarter-length, seated, turned to the left, gazing at spectator. She has brown hair and wears a smal lace cap/band with a black ribbon through it. She also wears a black dress with a long lace collar pinned with a jewel at the neck. A long slim gold chain hangs down and is pinned to her waist with a fob. Deep reddish background. (1 of a pair - see KIL/P/86).
