Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Lydia Elizabeth Hoare, Lady Acland (1786-1856), British (English) School, circa 1820. Formerly attributed to Sir Thomas Lawrence (1769-1830) and Studio. A half-length oval portrait, of a mature woman, the only daughter of Henry Hoare and Lydia Henrietta Mallortie who married Sir Thomas Dyke Acland, 10th Bt (1787-1871), head turned slightly to the left, gazing to the left, wearing a black 'Mary Queen of Scots', pink-lined dress with a capuchon round high lace collar and a white lace bonnet with a pink ribbon.
