Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Sir Francis Dyke Acland, 10/14th Baronet of Columb-John PC, MP (1874-1939) by John Archibald Alexander Berrie (1887-1962), signed lower right, John AA Berrie; copied from a photograph, 1920. A three-quarter-length portrait, in profile, turned to the left, standing in a library, looking down at a print/book of a fish while holding a lighted cigarette in his right hand. Short hair with a parting on his left, wearing a brown suit with white shirt and red tie. In the background floor to ceiling bookcases full of books. He was the son of Sir Arthur Herbert Dyke Acland, 13th Bt (1847-1926) and Alice Cunningham. He married, firstly, Eleanor Margaret Cropper who died in 1933 and, secondly, Constance Dudley who he married in 1937.
