Summary
Hand tinted opaltype photograph on ceramic, Julius Charles Drewe (1856-1931) by Gordon Chase (fl.1906). 1906 (?). Oval. Three-quarter-length portrait, seated, turned to the left, gazing to the left, holding papers on knee, in a black frock coat, grey trousers with belt, white waistcoat with gold watch-chain and seal. Black hair and moustache. Set in a plain glazed gilt frame. This item is contained within a arched topped display case which contains in total; 5 mounted, painted photograph; Mr.Julius Drewe with 4 of his 5 children.
Provenance
This item forms part of the original Drewe family collection at Castle Drogo. It was transferred to the National Trust in 1986.
