Summary
Oil painting on canvas, William Peek (1791 - 1870) by John Emery (active 1835 - 1851), signed and dated bottom left, 1851. A half-length portrait of William Peek, who founded his own tea firm, in a black frock coat with grey trousers and a black cravat, seated in a high backed 17th century style armchair. His arm is resting on a table with an open inkwell. He was Mr.Julius Drewe's grandfather on his mother's side.
Provenance
This item forms part of the original Drewe family collection at Castle Drogo. It was transferred to the National Trust in 1986.
