Oil painting on canvas, Adrian Drewe (1891 - 1917) by Madame Louisa Starr Canziani (London 1845 - London 1909), signed, in red, lower right: Louisa Starr Canziani. 1900. Full-length portrait of Adrian Drewe as a young boy. He is standing in an interior of what is probably Wadhurst Hall, the family's previous home, in front of a sofa wearing a dark blue velvet Fontleroy suit with ruffed white shirt and puritan collar. He has long hair and is holding a toy trumpet. His suit can still be seen at Castle Drogo.
Provenance
This item forms part of the original Drewe family collection at Castle Drogo. It was transferred to the National Trust in 1986.
