Summary
A black and white photograph of the "Cromdale", grounded in dense fog at Bass Point, The Lizard, May 23rd, 1913. This ship, carrying nitrates, was wrecked just before ten o'clock in the evening and had to be abandoned almost immediately. The crew got off safely and a week later a gale broke the ship for good. To the right of the ship can be seen a small rowing boat with four men on board. Contained in a brown photograph album containing sixty three black and white photographs, nearly all labelled, of Cornish wrecks 1890 - 1935.
Provenance
A gift of Miss R.M. Phillips, Penzance, who also gave other nautical memorabilia to the National Trust.
