Summary
A black and white photograph of the White Star liner, "Suevic", wecked on the Lizard, Cornwall, on Sunday 17 March 1907 due to thick fog. A smaller steamship can be seen on the right. The ship was cut in half, the bows being left on the rocks and the stern towed away. New bows were added and the "Suevic" then survived until 1942. Contained in a brown photograph album containing sixty three black and white photographs, nearly all labelled, of Cornish wrecks 1890 - 1935.
Provenance
A gift of Miss R.M. Phillips, Penzance, who also gave other nautical memorabilia to the National Trust.

Along the bottom of the photograph: (in black) SALVAGE OPERATIONS OF THE WHITE STAR INEER "SUEVIC". THE X X INDICATES WHERE SHE IS / CUT IN TWO. THE A.A. PORTION WILL BE LEFT ON THE ROCKS. No.8.
