Summary
A black and white photograph of the four-masted steel barque, "Pindos", (originally "Eusemere" but renamed in 1896) She was wrecked on the 10th February 1912, off Chynalls Point, Coverack, Cornwall. A description of the rescue is on a label below the photograph. Contained in a brown photograph album containing sixty three black and white photographs, nearly all labelled, of Cornish wrecks 1890 - 1935.
Provenance
A gift of Miss R.M. Phillips, Penzance, who also gave other nautical memorabilia to the National Trust.

Bottom of photograph: (in white) "PINDOS" On reverse: (handwritten in ink) Coverack (crossed out) / 4 m Barque "Pindos" wrecked at Coverack ON PAGE 9 OF ALBUM: Two labels with handwritten details of the ship Pindos and a description of the rescue. LABEL 1. Same builders built Vortigern, Caradus, Camishead(?) / Andelana & Pendragon Castle, all 2,500 tons. 2500 tons. / PINDOS ex EUSEMERE / built by R. Williamson & Co of Workington for Fisher & Sprott. / Launched June 1890. In 1896 sold to Wencke & Son, Hamburg / & renamed Pindos. Ashore Coverack Feb 1912. LABEL 2. The Rocket Apparatus had 5 unsuccessful throws - / the first throw fell splendidly but the line fouled / the 2nd, 3rd throws fell short, 4th too high & 5th short. / However the lifeboat, tho her line parted more than / once & she maneuvered in great danger / from the broken water round the wreck, was / successful in saving the Pindos crew of 27, after being out the greater part of the night. / L. of the Windjammers.
