Summary
A photograph of four men and a boy standing on stockade fencing, with three men standing on the bank, all watching something on the other side. In the foreground stand two men, both in solar topees or pith helments, facing the other way, a lean-to behind them. Contained in a grey photograph album containing photographs of the Khedda Operations in the Kakankota Forests of Mysore as witnessed in December 1919 by His Excellency Lord Chelmsford, Viceroy and Governor General of India.
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953 and continued to live there with his two sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966. Probably belonged to the Hon. Alexander Agar-Robartes who was Aide-de-camp to Lord Chelmsford, Viceroy of India, in 1919.
