Summary
A photograph of a man, Lord Chelmsford, standing on the top rail of the stockade, sitting on one of the posts and holding onto one on his right, watching something out of sight . A woman is standing beside the stockade on the left. Contained in a grey photograph album containing photographs of the Khedda Operations in the Kakankota Forests of Mysore as witnessed in December 1919 by His Excellency Lord Chelmsford, Viceroy and Governor General of India.
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953 and continued to live there with his two sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966. Probably belonged to the Hon. Alexander Agar-Robartes who was Aide-de-camp to Lord Chelmsford, Viceroy of India, in 1919.
