Summary
Oil painting on canvas, HRH Albert Edward, Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII), in a carriage procession at Brighton, by Major John E. Chapman Matthews (1842 - 1927), 1880, with a key to the people shown in the painting. Attributed to Stephen Pearce, but a Mrs. A. Whiteford, grand-daughter of Major J.E.C. Mathews of the Royal Glos. Hussars, visited Lanhydrock in 1997 and thought he was the artist.
Provenance
Gift from the Radcliffe family of Warleigh, Nr. Plymouth in 1970. There is a photograph of Warleigh in Nanny's Bedroom.
