Summary
Oil painting on canvas, 'Hope nursing Love': Miss Morris (after Sir Joshua Reynolds) by The Hon. Caroline Anne Lyttleton, Mrs Reginald Pole-Carew (1777- Antony 1833), formerly signed [what look like signs of effacement, bottom left. A woman sits in a landscape with a winged Cupid at her breast, his bow and quiver on the ground. Copy of a painting by Reynolds, owned by Mr Reginald Pole-Carew, the artist's husband, between 1816 -1835.
Provenance
Painted for the copyist's daughter, Lady Caroline Estcourt, and thence by inheritance, until given by Gerald, 7th Viscount Clifden (1883 - 1966) with the transfer of the house in 1953
