Summary
A sycamore and ash hoop-back Windsor armchair, West Country, circa 1800-1830.One of a group of four at Saltram, the others at Lanhydrock, Cornwall, where these chairs originally came from. With a hoop toprail and a hoop arm. The upper back of seven slender spindles morticed through the toprail hoop; the lower back of twelve. The arm supports turned with multiple rings and morticed through the arm bow. The sycamore seat raised on legs with a lower ball turning and joined by an elliptical 'H'-form stretcher.

Transferred from Lanhydrock, Cornwall to Saltram in January 2006.
