Summary
A rosewood, purpleheart and marquetry serpentine petit commode, French, circa 1750. With heavily-moulded veined rouge marble top above two drawers inlaid in sycamore with flowers issuing from an urn, the sides with panels of flowers, the front angles with gilt metal mounts trailing to sabots on the tapering legs.
Provenance
Acquired on transfer of the house to the National Trust. This petit commode was mentioned in a 1969 leaflet for visitors to Lanhydrock.
