Summary
A pair of giltwood and composition console tables, English, circa 1730. Each with replaced modern Verde Antico marble top, the frieze with egg and dart upper edge and ribbon-twist lower edge, above a pierced cartouche-centred apron hung with fruiting floral swags, on angled scroll legs carved with scales, headed with acanthus and terminating in raised scroll feet.
Provenance
Given to the National Trust by The Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, with the house in 1953. The marble tops for both tables supplied by Messrs Mander and Germain Ltd., Willowbank Wharf, Putney Bridge, London SW6 at a cost of £100 and delivered to Lanhydrock in March 1970.
