Summary
Stainless steel sword made by Hawkes and Co, Piccadilly, London, with pierced hand guard and leather strap, the blade dated 1909 and engraved. On both sides of blade is a crown over ER VII and on one side near handle is brass circle within a star on which is a crown with the word PROVET beneath. Also near handle the makers name and address and a crown/helmet/coat of arms/(on ribbon) DIEU ET MON DROIT; with scabbard.
Provenance
Acquired during transfer of the house when it was given to the National Trust by Gerald Agar-Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden in 1953.
