Summary
Oil painting on panel, A Gardener: 'The Sense of Smell' (after Teniers the younger) by Frances Talbot, Countess of Morley (Wymondham 1782 - ?Saltram 1857), signed F. Talbot after David Teniers the younger (Antwerp 1610 - Brussels 1690), the original of which is in the National Gallery, London. In the foreground a gardener wearing a plumed hat carries a potted tree. Behind him two figures with spades are starting to lay out a formal garden. Beyond the fence the land is uncultivated.
