Summary
One of a pair of giltwood open armchairs, or fauteuils, French, circa 1770. Covered in mid-20th century striped floral fabric. The padded back in a moulded framed topped by a floral spray. The arms outswept and padded and on moulded arm supports either side of an over-stuffed serpentine seat. The front seat rail moulded and centred by a floral spray. On moulded cabriole legs.
Provenance
Date of introduction to Saltram not recorded but at Saltram by 1951 and accepted by HM Treasury in lieu of full payment of Death Duty from the Executors of Edmund Robert Parker (1877 - 1951), 4th Earl of Morley and transferred to the National Trust in 1957.
