Summary
A set of mahogany bed-steps, English, late 18th/early 19th century. Of two treads, now covered in later dark green Brussels-type carpet woven with a design of lilies and leaves. The toprail between upright topped by acorn finials. All raised on six tapering square-section legs.
Provenance
Date of introduction to Saltram unrecorded but at Saltram by 1951 and accepted by HM Treasury in lieu of full payment of Death Duty from the Executors of Edmund Robert Parker (1877 - 1951), 4th Earl of Morley and transferred to the National Trust in 1957.
