Summary
A mahogany 'dwarf' clothes-press, or 'wardrobe', English, circa 1770, with polished top with moulded edge above a pair of doors applied with beading forming a 'panel' with concave cut corners and opening to reveal three sliding trays, above two short and one long cockbeaded drawers with brass handles, backplates and thread escutcheons. Veneered to the front in figured mahogany.
Provenance
At Saltram by 1951 and accepted by HM Treasury in lieu of full payment of Death Duty from the Executors of Edmund Robert Parker (1877 - 1951), 4th Earl of Morley and transferred to the National Trust in 1957.
