Summary
One of a set of four 6-branch candelabra. The centre is formed of oviform shaped vase and cover in bluejohn (Derbyshire Spar) mounted in chased and gilt ormolu with male caryatides each supporting two 'C' scroll branches. The whole decorated with leaf and acorn festoons in chiselled ormolu on square tortoiseshell ormolu-mounted plinths. Also fitted with lion mask and ring handles.
Provenance
Order recorded as completed and invoiced in March 1772, by descent to Edmund Robert Parker (1877-1951) 4th Earl of Morley and accepted by HM Treasury in part payment of death duties from from the executors.On loan from 1957 until transferred to NT outright in 1984.
