Summary
Print, engraving, John Stuart, 3rd Earl of Bute (1713-1792) (after Allan Ramsay) by William Wynne Ryland (London 1733– Tyburn 1783), 1763. This is after the original painting that was commissioned by the Prince of Wales, later George III, in 1758 and later presented to the sitter's son in 1783 where it is recorded as hanging at Mount Stuart in 1798 and by family descent to the 6th Marquess of Bute, by whom given to the National Trust for Scotland.
Provenance
A print of this title is listed as at Saltram (North Bow Bedroom) c.1900 in the handwriting of Albert Edmund Parker (1843-1905), 3rd Earl of Morley and by descent to Montagu Brownlow Parker (1878-1962), 5th Earl of Morley and formed part of the endowment given to NT after the transfer of the property etc in 1957.
