Summary
A pair of ormolu mounted Meissen figures, each of a small girl holding a book under her left arm. Both are mounted, probably at a later date, on Louis XV bases. From the back, spring ormolu trees, set with Vincennes porcelain flowers and ormolu candle nozzles. Each piece bears the crown 'C' Poincon mark, which was used between 1745 and 1749. Each is covered with a glass cover.
Provenance
No documentary evidence of acquisition but by descent to Edmund Robert Parker (1878-1951), 4th Earl of Morley and accepted as part of the more important contents in lieu of payment of Estate Duty and transferred to NT in 1957
