Summary
Brush pot, porcelain, cylindrical, made in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province, China, Kangxi period (1662–1722), c. 1700, decorated in the famille verte (‘green family’) palette of various shades of green, red, yellow and black enamels and gold with female figures on a terrace, bands of stylised floral decoration interspersed with cartouches with fishes and flowers above and below.
Full description
A pair of famille verte brush pots with almost identical decoration, furnished with gilt bronze mounts to turn them into vases, was sold at Christie’s Paris, 10 December 2000, lot 701.

Given to the National Trust by Montagu Brownlow Parker, 5th Earl of Morley (1878-1962), 1957.
