Summary
Oak mule chest, the front inscribed ‘T I 1737’ over four raised and fielded panels with two drawers below; ‘D’ shaped brass replacement swing handles to drawers; the lid of two flush panels, hung on iron staple hinges; the interior fitted with a hinged compartment at one end, with a small drawer below. Made originally for Thomas Iredale (d.c.1759), a farmer at Littlethwaite, in Lorton Vale, near Cockermouth.
