Summary
A terrazzo wall bench, British, designed by Patrick Gwynne, circa 1960s, the long rectangular seat with raised rim to the rear and sides, affixed to the wall and supported on two black-painted iron legs, the seat with two loose cushions and two rectangular cushions form the backrest, each backrest cushion hung from two black-painted metal pegs, the cushions covered in striped fabric with matching piping. The wall bench designed en suite with the square low table (NT 864306), the rectangular low table (NT 864319), the circular pedestal table (NT 864314), and the wall sofa (NT 864307) found at The Homewood. Patrick Gwynne had the seat and backrest cushions made for the wall bench, the cushions match those found on the wall sofa (NT 864307) and four steel and mesh chairs (NT 864308). Seat stuffing has been replaced.
Provenance
The Homewood and some of its contents were given to the National Trust by Patrick Gwynne in 1999.
