Summary
Fan. Leaf of chicken-skin, scene of Hector and Andromache, painted in gouache, after Coypel. Reverse with pastoral scene. Applied gilt flower and leaf decoration at edge. Ivory sticks finely carved with eastern subjects - dragon, figures and animals. Guards set with plaques of agate and paste jewels with watch at rivet. French, C18. Or English court fan, late C18.
Provenance
Part of the Bristol Collection. Acquired by the National Trust in 1956 under the auspices of the National Land Fund, later the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
