Summary
Fan. Medallion fan. Leaf of chicken skin decorated with fine etching. Bacchus and Ariadne in centre medallion, with satyr and nude lady in side medallions. Reverse simply painted with urn in centre and leaf border. Pierced ivory sticks with silver pique work. Decoration of leaf delicate in pastel colours. Italian, mid C18. Bought in London for £1, Christies 1900.

Part of the Bristol Collection. Acquired by the National Trust in 1956 under the auspices of the National Land Fund, later the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
