Oil painting on canvas, Rachel Henty, Mrs E. Gleadowe Marshall by Sir William Blake Richmond, RA (London 1842 – Keswick 1921), circa 1883. A half-length portrait against a dark background. A plump, matronly lady with short grey hair drawn back. She wears an Edwardian style of gown, indistinguishable, dark grey and black. She wears a gold necklace, a wristwatch on her left arm, and a gold ring on the little finger of her right hand. Her hands are clasped together on her lap. Rachel Henty, daughter of Robert Henty, married (1) George Edward Wythes of Copped Hall, Essex (d.1875), mother of Alice Frances Theodora Wythes, Lady Bristol (1875-1957), the wife of Frederick William Fane Hervey, 4th Marquess of Bristol (1863-1951), married (2) in 1883 to E.Gleadowe Marshall.

By descent to Rear Admiral Frederick William Fane Hervey, 4th Marquess of Bristol (1863-1951), on whose death valued for probate; accepted in lieu of tax by HM Treasury, and transferred to the National Trust in 1956
