Summary
Print, hand-coloured stipple engraving, Lady Elizabeth Christiana Hervey, later Duchess of Devonshire (Lady Elizabeth Foster) (1759-1824), by Francesco Bartolozzi (Florence 1727–Lisbon 1815), after Sir Joshua Reynolds PRA (Plympton 1723 - London 1792), 1787. Half-length portrait, seated, turned to the right, slightly facing. Shoulder-length curly grey hair with hint of brown wearing a white muslin dress, wide blue sash. Double frill spotted collar with pale pink bow in centre. Sleeves gathered at elbows and at wrists with double spotted frill. Greyish blue landscape and sky. Inscribed on back '1810. Her Grace the Duchess of Devonshire, Elizabeth, sister to the Earl of Bristol. This picture the gift of the Countess of Bristol'.

Part of the Bristol Collection. Acquired by the National Trust in 1956 under the auspices of the National Land Fund, later the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
