Summary
One from a set of four of ash benches, English, circa 1820 Made as seating for the pair of massive ash tables. With a thick rectangular plank seat raised on three shaped solid supports with iron strap stretchers. This furniture from the Servants Hall was most likely constructed in situ due to the enormous size of the plank tops of the tables and have probably remained in the same room since. It is also likely that the ash was cut from trees on the estate.
