Summary
An ash refectory table, English, circa 1820 With a massive plank top held on three molded shaped solid supports and shaped plinths to each. This table and other furniture from the Servants Hall was most likely constructed in situ due to the enormous size of the plank tops and have probably remained in the same room since. It is also likely that the ash was cut from trees on the estate.
Provenance
Part of the Bristol Collection. Acquired by the National Trust in 1956 under the auspices of the National Land Fund, later the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
