Summary
A marquetry inlaid kingwood, Campan rouge marble and ormolu mounted serpentine bombe commode, French, circa 1755 The marble top with moulded edge above two long drawers inlaid with scrolling foliage with flowers and birds and with applied floral and scroll cast mounts incorporating cast handles and escutcheons. The lower drawer with shaped apron and raised on cabriole legs with further mounts and sabot, the sides with conforming inlay and applied castings.
Provenance
Part of the Bristol Collection. The house and contents were acquired through the National Land Fund and transferred to the National Trust in 1956.
