Summary
A kingwood, tulipwood and amaranth parquetry inlaid, ormolu mounted and marble secrétaire à abattant, French, circa 1770 The grey marble top with moulded edge and outset canted corners above a frieze drawer and fall enclosing a fitted interior and inlaid with an interlocking geometric design within a frame with leaves and corner cartouches with a pair of cupboard doors below with conforming inlay and enclosing a shelf, with canted corners inlaid to simulate fluting and raised on bracket feet with a pierced cast brass mount to the apron. The sides with conforming parquetry inlay.
Provenance
Part of the Bristol Collection. The house and contents were acquired through the National Land Fund and transferred to the National Trust in 1956.
