Summary
Print, engraving, Mary Lepel, Lady Hervey (1706-1768) (after Charles-Nicolas Cochin the younger) by Claude-Henri Watelet (1718-1786). Head and shoulders portrait in left profile in oval format within decorated rectangle. She is seated, facing right, and wears a dress decorated with frills and embroidery. She has short hair and wears a small embroidered cap, and earrings. Pictured as if a miniature hanging by a ribbon bow from a plaque decorated with foliage. 'Cochin filius del 1752, H. Watelet sculsit 1752'. Black and gilded frame, gilt slip, glazed.

Purchased in 2001 from Mr Whitworth, a cousin of the Hon David Erskine and a descendant of the Revd Lord Arthur Hervey, Bishop of Bath and Wells (1808-1894)
