Summary
Salt Trencher, part of Late Qianlong Armorial Dinner Service c.1780. Gilt diaper patterns around rim; indentation on top; hollow beneath; crest is an ounce passant sable bezantee ducally collared with chain reflexed over the back or holding a trefoil slipped vert over a baron's coronet. Part of the Hervey Armorial service given by Robert Drummond, brother of Lady Hervey (served in the E.India Co. naval service). Bought back by Lord Bristol at a sale of Lord Howard de Walden. Coloured. 2 chips on rim.
