Summary

Candleholder. Doccia. c.1750-60. Kneeling male mermaid-figure with wings, head and hands supporting a bi-valve shell supported by small univalve shell with opening for candle. Raised on low-wave scroll base, picked out in puce enamel.

Provenance

Part of the Bristol Collection. Acquired by the National Trust in 1956 under the auspices of the National Land Fund, later the National Heritage Memorial Fund
