Summary
Oil painting on canvas, A Frigate sailing south from Gibraltar, by John Lynn (fl.1826 – 1844), signed and dated, bottom right: J. Lynn 1844. The vessel on the left is a frigate , presumably British, since making sail from Gibraltar. The promontory of land behind the lateen-rigged settee or similar Mediterranean vessel coming west out of the 'Gut' (Strait of Gibraltar) is Europa Point, lighthouse in the distance on right, with the Spanish coats beyond far right.
