Summary
Map of the Manor of Brockhampton surveyed by Inigo Perkins, 1737. Framed and glazed. The map provides an illustration of the extent of the land that belonged to the manor of Brockhampton in 1737. Each separate plot of land, including woodland and fields, are given a code consisting of a letter and number. This was presumably to aid the owner in indentifying individual plots when managing the estate, organising the use of plots, and negotiating rents. Some of the field plots have been drawn with horizontal and verticle lines going across them which indicates that they were under cultivation, whilst others are left blank to illustrate those left to lie fallow or used as pasture land for cattle.
