Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Richard Bunclark of Ashburton (1756 - 1855), Woodman to the Druid estate at Ashburton, aged 95 by Henry Caunter (fl. c.1846 - c.1850), 1850/51. The sitter is depicted as an aged countryman wearing a smock that is open to reveal a jacket and neckerchief. In his right hand he holds a wooden staff and in his left a billhook with an axe over his arm. A larger version was in the sale of the contents of Druid, Ashburton at Bearne's of Torquay in 1994.
