Summary
An oak tester bed, English, circa 1650. The head-end with a frieze of rosettes and corbels above four arcaded panels flanked by stiff-leaf uprights, the lower four-panel section applied with oval and pyramidal bosses and split moulding decoration, the foliate-carved and ring-turned end posts support the twelve-panel roof which has a moulded cornice and incised guilloche frieze, the posts with turned feet and joined to oak side rails.
