Summary
One of two sets of 'L' plan pews. The fronts are panelled, six bays on the long arm and two on the short, with fret tracery on a trefoil at the top with zoomorphic flower or leaf designs attached to the cusps. At the bottom there are quatrefoil mouldings with a chip carved flower at the centre. The pew ends are round shouldered with ogee and cavetto mouldings, with a poppyhead of fleur de lys form with foliage and zoomorphic elements. The ends nearest the screen have a crocket on the shoulder, and two human figures carrying an armorial shield. The pews have a sloping top and a simple bench seat. They are of oak throughout, the fronts being probably 15th Century stalls brought from elsewhere. The two sets, although similar, are different in detail. (Description by Peter Leach, February 1991.)
