Summary
A painted satinwood Pembroke table, English, circa 1790. The rounded rectangular twin-flap top crossbanded in rosewood and with border of painted floral garlands, each leaf with floral scrolls centred with an urn, the top centred with musical trophies within a scrolling surround of foliage and baskets of flowers, each end frieze with a shaped walnut panel, with a drawer and opposing dummy drawer, on square tapering legs with castors, the drawers cedar-lined, brass plate in drawer S & H JEWELL, 29, 30 & 31 LITTLE QUEEN STREET, HOLBORN W.C.
Full description
S & H Jewell were a firm of cabinet makers established in 1830, but particularly active in the second half of the 19th century. They were a family business who worked from their premises at 29-31 Little Queen Street, Holborn, London. They also retailed furniture that they had purchased and restored.
