An oak chest, English, North-West, circa 1770. Crossbanded in mahogany, the hinged top above three arched fielded panels flanked by mahogany fluted quarter columns on the angle, with two drawers below, on ogee bracket feet, the escutcheons original, the handles not original.

The appearance of mahogany crossbanding and quarter columns on chests and dressers is very characteristic of the North West of England, particularly Cheshire and Lancashire.
