Summary
A pair of beech and elm children's Windsor chairs, Thames Valley, circa 1800, each with a turned hoop enclosing five radiating spindles, the figured elm seat on ring-turned legs joined by stretchers.
Full description
These chairs are very good examples of their type. The front leg profile is illustrated in Bernard Cotton 'The English Regional chair', 1990, in the table on page 51 which shows the main leg profiles for the Thames Valley region and dates from circa 1770 to circa 1840.
