Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Rebecca Miller Christy, Mrs Alfred Darby (1821 - 1909), by Jerry Barrett (Harrow 1824 – Middlesex 1906), 1870, signed bottom right. A half-length portrait of a woman, seated, head to right, gazing to the right, wearing a black dress, a white lace collar-shawl and a white lace bonnet tied with a black ribbon. She holds a half-opened fan in her right hand, her left arm rests on a flowered tablecloth and the fingers of her left hand rest on top of the fan. She wears drop-pearl earrings and an oval coral brooch edged with pearls at her neck. She also wears a feather/fur necklet.
