Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Mrs Henry Bazely, British (English) School, circa 1840. A three-quarter length portrait of the wife of Captain Henry Bazely, RN and mother of Isabella Wolryche-Whitmore, who married the Reverend Francis Henry Laing, rector of Quatt, who assumed the names and arms of Wolryche-Whitmore in 1864, facing, gazing at the spectator, seated in a buttoned padded red armchair, wearing a black dress, a white lace bonnet with white lace collar and cuffs and a red shawl around her shoulders, she holds in her left hand a gold spy-glass which hangs on a waist-length chain.
